We basically use FIBA Rules -  timeouts called from the bench.

No Foul Shots!  If foul would result in foul shots, play the foul as if the foul shots had been made; e.g. fouled in the act of shooting and missed the basket - count two points and change possession.

3 point shots count.  30 second limit for shot (kept by ref without clock).  10 seconds to get past centre.

Only one referee - if  incident occurs far from ref, help make the call.

Only 4 fouls before disqualification.  1 Timeout / half (call from the floor).   2 pts on the 5th foul per quarter.

Games start 5 mins after the hour and finish on the hour; this makes each quarter adjustable - if really late starting, game must be shortened severely.  The game following yours will not be penalized!  You might be able to play 11 minutes (running time - last 3 minutes 4th quarter stop time) each quarter!

Pay up before you play! Let your team rep know that we have your complete information - mailing  address (for Insurance purposes, etc.), Home and Business telephone numbers, Year of Birth, height, weight and any other necessary info (travel?). Email ids are also helpful.

NO DEFAULTS!  If a team is short players, players should be picked up ONLY from  OPPONENT; if you still don't have enough, play 4 a side!  We are no longer allowing pickup of players from earlier or later games unless there are not 6 aside for both teams (abused).

Substitutions - please use the honour system.  Play 4 minutes or so and then come off on your own steam!  If you won't remember, ask others to take you off at an appropriate time!  Either team can sub on any whistle or after a basket score (stop the game).

Abusive language, Fighting and Unsportsmanlike Behaviour will not be tolerated; first instance is suspension for one game (beyond the game ejection).  A 2nd offence will result in elimination from League play with no money refund.

If you find that you can no longer play, let your team rep know.  There is a good chance that someone may be waiting for a chance to play; if there is, we will contact you to make arrangements for a refund.  If not, sorry, but we would like to know not to expect you!

There will be a Basketball NS Grandmasters Tournament on April 2 and 3, 2011 at Studley.  Please contact Jon McMullen or see the website for more info.

Direct any problems / questions / suggestions you may have to your team rep or league executive.

Occasionally, some people will organize teams to go to other tournaments - many have different age requirements.  If you would like to organize teams for these, feel free!  We will give you the info we have.
